The Department of Health (DOH), led by Undersecretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire, joined The Medical City's 2024 World Tuberculosis (TB) Day Celebration in Pasig City.

She highlighted the current state of TB in the Philippines and emphasized the DOH's multi-pronged approach towards its elimination. This strategy focuses on:

  • Stronger leadership

  • Targeted investments

  • Faster adoption of new recommendations

  • Innovation

  • Accelerated action

  • Collaboration across sectors

This united effort aligns perfectly with three of DOH's 8-Point Action Agenda, specifically:

  • "Ligtas, dekalidad, at mapagkalingang serbisyo"

  • "Pag-iwas sa sakit"

  • "Ginhawa ng isip at damdamin"

The DOH recognizes the importance of the private sector and extends its thanks, especially for being its partner in supporting its initiatives in delivering quality and accessible healthcare to Filipinos. She also urged the private sector to help in the government's efforts to bolster databases for TB, particularly in the submission of updated, reliable, and accurate data and reports to help ensure that the country is taking the appropriate steps in combating TB dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.

Alay Buhay stays committed to doing its part to help eradicate TB in the country though its ACF activities with various partner regions.

Stay tuned for future posts where we'll explore ways you can contribute to the fight against TB in your community.
